About this webinar
Wind energy is clean, sustainable and cost effective. Over the past 10 years, cumulative wind power capacity in the United States increased an average of 30% per year, and it is one of the lowest-priced renewable energy technologies available today.

Hexagon's CAE technologies has been leading the way in developing the new-generation wind turbines. Romax pioneered the 'Right First Time' model-based design & validation approach for wind turbine drivetrains. Adams is the 'Gold Standard' Multibody Dynamics tool with extensive capabilities for wind turbine structural modelling from the complete turbine to components. These tools sit within an ecosystem of Hexagon capabilities providing solutions to the challenges faced by drivetrain development teams. This webinar explores the capabilities of Romax & Adams and shows how these can be united to accelerate the new multi-MW wind turbine drivetrain development programs. Making good design decisions early using simulation means lower cost of development and faster time to market.

Who should join?
This webinar is tailored for all professionals who are involved in designing and developing wind turbine drivetrains (main bearings, gearbox, generator, mainframe, mounting systems, couplings). We welcome anyone who's interested in learning more about how a simulation-led approach can accelerate their drivetrain development process and reduce the cost of energy of their drivetrains.

Presenter: Gary Johnstone
Gary Johnstone is the Business Development Director covering the EMEA region for System Dynamics within the Hexagon Design & Engineering group. His team includes the capability to deliver engineering consulting projects and software technical support to the wind industry. Gary has been active in the wind industry since first joining Romax Technology in 2008 and has worked on many wind turbine drivetrain development & certification projects from 1.5MW to 10MW. In 2012 Gary led the Romax team responsible for designing the 'Butterfly' medium speed drivetrain for offshore wind applications. Gary originally studied Automotive Engineering at Loughborough University and has over 17 years' experience in drivetrain development.
