New Material Engineering for Longer and Lighter Wind Turbine Blades

content image
Lowering the cost of energy generation for offshore wind turbine is pushing the boundaries of larger turbines and longer blades. For onshore turbines, the challenge lies in the flexibility of being able to adapt blade designs based on wind turbine location and wind condition to maximize energy output. Meeting those design requirements while maintaining blade durability and safety for 25 years of service calls for the latest material technologies.

At Hexagon, material intelligence is an integrated approach of virtual material development, virtual testing and material data artificial intelligence. We incorporate accurate material properties into full assembly simulations to accurately predict the system performance. Curious to know how manufacturing defects impact the structural integrity of the blade or how the fiber placement affects the deformation of the blade? Hexagon's Material Intelligence is able to account for microstructural defects on the component level performance.

The webinar will address how Material Intelligence can guide design and manufacturing for longer and lighter wind turbine blades.

Who should join?
This webinar is tailored for all professionals (material engineers, testing and quality engineers/managers, etc..) who are involved in designing, developing and manufacturing wind turbine blades. We welcome anyone who's interested in learning more about how advanced materials technology can be applied at multiple points along the design, production and assembly process in wind energy application.
